A court in Arakan State’s Mrauk-U Township on January 25 again postponed an expected verdict in the case of more than 20 residents of Lekka village who have been charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

Residents of five townships in northern Arakan State are being prioritised in the latest regional Covid-19 inoculation campaign, with the Arakan Army (AA) administering vaccine doses allocated by Myanmar’s military regime, said AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha.

The Department of Higher Education under Myanmar’s military regime has announced that final-year courses for those studying the sciences at the University of Distance Education will be reopened for the 2022 academic year.

Ethnic politicians are concerned that Myanmar’s post-coup peace process will not be successful if it continues in line with the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
