A 42-year old village administrator in Minbya Township, Arakan State, died of injuries after he was struck with a rifle butt by some members of a military troop and a mother was killed by bullet wound on the night of 11 December, family members told the DMG.

The Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) accuse each other for a vessel was hit by artillery shells in Kaladan River near Hnone Bu village in Paletwa township of Chin State, killing two people and injuring six others.

An artillery shell landed in Kalama Taung Village in Minbya Township at about 9 a.m. on 11 December, 10 villagers were injured and two out of the 10 received serious injuries, locals said.

The Immigration and National Registration Department has been issuing household member lists and birth certificates for Muslims from Thet Kel Pyin IDP camp in Arakan State’s Sittwe city as of 9 December.

Local people from Kin Pin Lel Nar Village, Kyaukphyu Township in Arakan State said they suspect a fish cracker factory near the village is believed to run on coal and demanded local authorities to shut down the plant.

Daw Win Mra Phyu, mother of the detained teacher died at a public hospital in Sittwe this morning due to trauma a day after her son was arrested by the Tatmadaw.

Aid from Arakan State government is required for persons with disabilities in Arakan State because they do not have enough help, said U Zaw Min Than, associate secretary of Association for Persons with Disability in Arakan State.

The case has 13 prosecution witnesses including three people who have been in prison in Pakokku, Magway Region, and all of them have been questioned on 27 November, defense lawyer U Tun Hla said.

The situation of two people who have been arrested by the Tatmadaw near Thapyaykan village in Mrauk-U Township on 29 November has not been known so far, regional lawmakers said.

The Tatmadaw and police inspected Konedan village in Rathedaung township on 3 December and brought a teacher, an educational clerk and a ward/village tract clerk to the Ah Ngu Maw Police Station for questioning, village head U Tin Maung told the DMG.

Because of clashes in December last year between the Tatmadaw and the AA, villagers who go outside villages to search for food, cut firewood or herd cattle become victims of landmines.

“The prolonged existence of refugee camps hinder socioeconomic development and creates even greater setbacks for refugees,” the union minister said.
