The 75th Maha Ramayana Harinama Rama festival, a major Hindu religious event, was held from January 31 to February 3 in Maungdaw Township, which is currently under the control of the Arakan Army.

During the festival, devotees took part in ceremonial chanting of the Ramayana epic, offered prayers to Lord Hanuman and performed musical tributes based on the Maha Ramayana scriptures.

Pilgrims and attendees were also served communal meals known as Prasad and Annadan as part of the religious tradition.

Thousands of local residents, including members of the Hindu community and people from other communities, attended the celebrations. Officials from the United League of Arakan also joined the event and provided financial assistance to support its organisation.

The Maha Ramayana Harinama Rama Akhanda Path festival, which features continuous chanting, is traditionally held each year during the month of Tabaung. The event had been suspended in recent years due to conflict and instability and was revived this year following the Arakan Army’s takeover of Arakan State.
