Si Taung shooting claims five lives and one seriously injured
The Tatmadaw opened fire in Si Taung village in Buthidaung Township, killing at least five people and seriously wounding one woman.

The Tatmadaw opened fire in Si Taung village in Buthidaung Township, killing at least five people and seriously wounding one woman.
Most of the villagers fled from their homes while some of them are trapped in the village, according to respondents to the DMG. Currently, villagers will not risk entering the village to confirm the exact number of civilian casualties.
U Maung Aye Tun, 55, Daw Than Nyunt, 55, Maung Myat Swe Thein, 23, Maung Aung Than Htay, 19 and Daw Hla Su Pone, 95, were killed by artillery fire.
Daw Tin Aye Thein, 41, has sustained severe injuries. Among five dead villagers, Daw Hla Su Pone in her nineties was from a different location. The four family members were dead in the bomb shelter.
The injured woman has been sent to Zedi Taung hospital, villagers said.
The DMG called Colonel Win Zaw Oo from the Western Command to seek comment for the incident, but he was not available at that moment.
