Two civilians were killed and three others were injured as the regime bombed Khayaymyaing Village, part of Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township, two times on Monday evening.
A junta jet fighter attacked Khayaymyaing Village twice at around 4 p.m. on October 7, killing Maung Tun Win, 18, and Maung Aung Aung Soe, 19, and wounding Maung Soe Win Maung, 16, Daw Ma Kyawt Nu, 40, and Ma Aye Htay, 24.
“A junta jet fighter dropped a bomb on a village school, killing two people on a motorbike and injuring three others,” said a local resident.
The injured civilians are being treated at nearby clinics.
The military regime carries out airstrikes and heavy weapon fire targeting civilian residences in Maungdaw Township on a daily basis, resulting in deaths and injuries among civilian populations, and destruction of residential buildings.
A Y-12 military aircraft reportedly dropped dozens of bombs on Maungdaw’s Ward-2 and neighbouring villages on September 29, reducing scores of homes to ashes.
“The regime conducts airstrikes daily and the number of civilians killed or injured in the junta airstrikes continues to rise,” said a local man.
Fighting between the Arakkha Army (AA) and military is escalating as the former steps up attacks on the latter’s Border Guard Force (BGF) No. 5, the last standing junta battalion in besieged Maungdaw.
