The Arakan Army (AA) seized Khamaungwa camp, a strategic hilltop base in Paletwa Township, Chin State, on January 2, the Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a statement.
Among the military camps targeted by the AA, other camps that have been partially captured will be seized fully this week, the Three Brotherhood Alliance’s statement said.
The regime soldiers who escaped without surrendering are being hunted down, and anyone who surrenders will be guaranteed safety and the opportunity to meet with their families, the AA has said.
The Arakan Army also took control of a junta tactical command base in Paletwa Township on December 27, and Point 377, a military camp on the Myanmar-India border, on December 29.
Fighting between the military and AA has been intensifying in Paletwa Township since November 14. The Arakan Army previously seized junta tactical command outposts in Taron Eain and Nonebu villages.
The AA has seized a total of 20 military camps in Paletwa Township, including the two tactical command outposts, during the latest hostilities. The AA seized the district police station in Mrauk-U, Arakan State, on December 26.
