The Tatmadaw needs to immediately stop its offensive operations in, Kokang and Ta’ang regions to start negotiations with sincerity, the Arakan Army, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army, identified themselves as Three Brotherhood Alliance, said in its statement issued on 29 October.

The statement said that they declared a unilateral ceasefire until 31 December in order to stop civil war and mitigate the current hostilities in addition to undergoing pragmatic negotiations and to sign ceasefire agreement.

The Tatmadaw, however, is making good use of that situation and conducting offensive operations in their regions intensively, and they have to launch counter-offensives and prevent war by each group or collectively, it said.

“Such actions of the Myanmar army disrupt negotiations groups have been striving towards,” the statement said.

The alliance group also warned that the Tatmadaw would have to suffer the consequences if it did not stop its offensive operations.
