Myanmar's military regime has been sending reinforcements in apparent preparation for a military offensive, including deploying troops to areas adjacent to territory controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) and other anti-junta revolutionary forces in Ingapu Township, Ayeyarwady Region.
The military regime carried out nine airstrikes on the villages of Peinhnekwin, Thanpayarkwin, Laetannge, Kyauksayitgon, and Kyetpaunggon in Ingapu Township on August 1 and 2, and is reportedly preparing to deploy heavy weapons in some villages along the Ayeyarwady River.
Locals said that at least 30 houses in the five villages were burnt down due to airstrikes by the military regime.
"The military regime has been conducting military operations in recent days, deploying troops to villages along the Ayeyarwady River, and has deployed heavy weapons in Nankatgyi Village," said a local man.
Locals said the regime has sent militiamen from Kyonpyaw and Hinthada to the No. 5 Military Advanced Training School in Ingapu, where it is reinforcing its forces and launching ground offensives.
The junta has lost some villages to resistance forces along the Pathein-Monywa road in Ingapu Township.
Locals say the regime is trying to regain control of the road because its logistics are being delayed and communication with troops in Laymyethna is difficult.
"The military regime may be trying to regain control of the Pathein-Monywa road, which has created difficulties in logistics and communication," said a local man in Ingapu Township.
The villages along the Pathein-Monywa road in Ingapu Township, including Peinhnekwin, Thanpayarkwin, Kyauksayitgon, Thaenugon and Chinkaikkwin, are controlled by anti-regime forces.
The junta has banned the delivery of food, medicine and fuel to some villages in Ingapu Township since the last week of July.
The AA and local anti-regime forces are operating together in Ayeyarwady Region townships such as Ingapu, Laymyethna, Yekyi, Thabaung and Pathein.
