A burglar broke into a staff building at the high school in Yan Aung Pyin village, Rathedaung Township, and stole food from some teachers, according to Daw Khaing Hlaing Aye, a teacher at the high school.
“The thief broke into the room through a window. We do not know who the thief is. The thief broke into my room and another room. But there are no precious things because we moved them to our homes as school is closed amid the Covid-19 outbreak,” she told DMG.
Schools have been closed since July 9, 2021, due to the spread of coronavirus.
Education staff are at their homes during the suspension of schooling, and they noticed the break-in when they came to the school to collect their salaries for September, Daw Khaing Hlaing Aye said.
A teacher from the school who asked for anonymity told DMG that the school planned to immediately hire security staff at the school.
“Previously, the school had a security staff, but he was promoted and there is a vacancy for his position. So, we are arranging to substitute a new night security staff,” the teacher said.
Some education staff said it was the third time that a thief had broken into school buildings.
