Heavy fighting breaks out between junta and Arakan Army in Ngaphe Twsp

Heavy fighting broke out between the military junta and the Arakan Army near Gotesiyoe Village in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, starting on the morning of September 4, according to a military source.

The clashes erupted after the military junta launched an offensive with massive troop reinforcements toward Gotesiyoe Village, the source said.

“The military junta advanced from the side of Gotesiyoe Village. As the Arakan Army retaliated in defence, many junta soldiers were wounded, forcing most of them to retreat. Active fighting is still ongoing at present,” the source said.

The Arakan Army and its allied forces captured the Gotesiyoe camp in early 2025, and the military junta has been launching offensives in an attempt to retake the position.

Earlier, on August 6, the military junta launched an offensive against Gotesiyoe Village with air support, heavy artillery and drones. However, counterattacks by the Arakan Army and allied forces inflicted heavy casualties, forcing junta troops to retreat.

At present, the Arakan Army and allied forces have encircled the Nat Yay Kan tactical hilltop base, while the military junta frequently conducts airstrikes using fighter jet formations on villages near Gotesiyoe, Kamyinkan and Nat Yay Kan.
