Two women were injured when a military junta Y-12 aircraft dropped more than 10 bombs on residential areas in Anjanapura Township late on October 21, according to local residents.
The junta bombing began at around 11:00 p.m. and continued past midnight, striking Gamma Village and Myothit Ward, residents said.
“Fortunately, there were no severe casualties among residents, but two women sustained minor injuries,” a resident of Anjanapura said.
The injured women were identified as 40-year-old Daw Nu Nu Chay and 30-year-old Ma Thein Nu Chay.
The junta bombardment also damaged residential buildings and left residents frightened, according to local sources.
“The junta aircraft came and bombed for about half an hour, dropping more than 10 bombs,” a local woman in Anjanapura Town said. “Three bombs landed in the river near our house. We were terrified and stayed awake all night.”
The attack comes amid continued aerial operations by the military junta over Arakan State townships controlled by the Arakan Army (AA). On October 15, local residents reported reconnaissance flights over several townships, including Anjanapura, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U and Ponnagyun.
