A mine exploded on the morning of August 14 near Ah Pauk Wa police station in Kyauktaw township, Arakan State, the residents said.

A mine exploded on the morning of August 14 near Ah Pauk Wa police station in Kyauktaw township, Arakan State, the residents said.
The explosion occurred in a former chicken farm near a police station but it is unclear if the blast caused any damage.
“The mine detonated just after 9am today inside the former chicken farm. There is only one compound between the chicken farm and police station. The residents are afraid and worried because of the explosion,” Ah Pauk Wa villager U Aung Kyaw Zan said.
He added that police questioned a husband and wife who own the chicken farm as well as 11 villagers who were cultivating paddy nearby.
According to residents, they were all released after questioning but the DMG was not able to confirm this information.
Residents said that the owner of the chicken farm ran a fuel station beside the road on the north side of the farm.
The owners were U Oo Maung, who works as a clerk at the General Administrative Department, and Daw U Than Nwe, who is a primary school principal.
