The Manaung Public Company’s hotel and tourism zone, one of 10 “master plans” that the firm has put together to further development in Manaung Township, is targeting a November opening date, with applications currently being accepted for hotel staff positions.
Local residents will be given priority in the recruitment process, said U Tun Hlaing, chair of Manaung Public Company, who added that the early call for applications was intended to ensure enough time to provide training to the new hires.
“Residents who are familiar with the hotel business are suitable for the job,” he told DMG.
The hotel zone is about 70% complete, with construction currently suspended during the annual monsoon season, Manaung Public Company said.
The project broke ground in early 2019 and is situated near Kaei village in Manaung Township, Arakan State. It was previously expected to open for business in early 2020, but construction could not be completed in time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 10 master plans being spearheaded by Manaung Public Company include upgrading the township’s airport and seaport as well as roads and bridges; expanding access to electricity and drinking water; and building wastewater and trash management systems.
