Over 10,000 residents from Namkham town in northern Shan State who have been displaced by recent fighting urgently need clothes and food supplies, according to the Ta’ang Women’s Organization and volunteers helping displaced people.
The Ta’ang National Liberation Army and junta troops are engaged in fierce fighting in Namkham Township. Locals were forced to flee Namkham after junta troops deployed on a hill near the municipal office in the town fire artillery on Tuesday.
“Residents have fled to rural areas where they stay in village monasteries and their relatives’ [homes]. They need food and clothes. They need coats. It is freezing here,” said a volunteer.
