Dozens arrested in connection with bomb blast at ward administrator’s home in Pala town

A bomb exploded at the home of a ward administrator in Ward-3, Pala town in Myeik District, Tanintharyi Region, at about 5:30 p.m. on November 29.
Around 30 junta soldiers and police raided Ward-3 and detained 39 people in connection with the bomb explosion on November 29, residents said.
“Thirty-nine residents were arrested in connection with the bomb blast at the ward administrator’s home. Of the detainees, four women and 10 men were taken to Myeik and 20 others remain in police custody,” said a source close to the Pala police station.
Five elderly women were released, 14 people were taken to a military regiment in Myeik and 20 residents are currently being held at the Pala police station, according to local reports.
About 40 people were arrested by the military and police on November 29 under the pretext of checking for overnight guests following the bomb explosion at the ward administrator’s home, said a resident of Ward-3.
A local anti-regime group blew up the ward administrator’s home with three bombs, the military council said in a statement on November 26. DMG has yet to independently confirm the details of the incident.
