The young author Min Di Par from Pan Maw village in Mrauk-U Township, Arakan State, who has been charged under Myanmar’s Counter-Terrorism Law, appeared again in court on December 16.
The Mrauk-U District Court recalled the complainant police captain, Soe Tin from Mrauk-U Township police station, as a testifying witness at Thursday’s court hearing, said U Kyaw Soe Lin, a lawyer from Thazin Legal Institute involved in the case.
“The administrator of Let Kauk Zay ward in Mrauk-U town will testify at the next court hearing,” U Kyaw Soe Lin said.
Min Di Par was arrested on October 15 and was charged under Section 50(j), accused of providing financial aid for the People’s Defence Force (PDF).
The court decided to formally charge him on December 10.
“It is just an accusation. He was not involved with the PDF,” said Ko Aung Myint, the older brother of Min Di Par.
The young author’s next court hearing has been scheduled for December 23.
Ko Min Ko Oo, chair of Taungup Township Youth Network, was arrested on December 14, also accused of having ties to the PDF and charged under Section 50(j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
The number of people arrested on suspicion of ties to the PDF in Arakan State has reached at least nine.
