Author Aung Lin Hein (SKY) says proceeds from the sale of an essay book entitled “Panthaku” will be used to support the education of children displaced by fighting.
The book has had an initial print run of 500 copies and currently more than 200 books have been sold.
“I will donate books that are needed for IDP children’s education. At the moment, I have not chosen the displacement camps for donation of the books,” he said, adding that he plans to donate more books to village libraries.
A book launch event was held at Shwe Yoe Yar restaurant on Kyaunggyi Street in Sittwe on Saturday, with about 30 people from the Arakanese literary community in attendance.
“There are few essay writers in the world of Arakanese literature. So I see that writer Aung Lin Hein fills a necessary gap. Also, fulfilling the needs of IDP children with the money from book sales is a very good plan,” said writer Aung Kyi Moe (Thinponetan).

Forty children were killed or injured by landmine explosions, stray gunfire and artillery strikes in Arakan State and Paletwa Township, Chin State, in 2022, according to a DMG tally.
Family members and psychiatrists have pointed out that children from conflict zones suffer both psychological and physical harm due to the fighting between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA) in Arakan State.
