The military-led Ministry of Electricity and Energy said the construction of a combined cycle power plant near Gantgawdaw Pagoda in Arakan State’s Kyaukphyu Township is slated for completion in May 2023. 

A junta court in Arakan State’s Kyaukphyu Township has imposed a fine on a local activist for violating the Peaceful Assembly and Peaceful Procession Law. 

The Arakan Army (AA) detained a junta soldier on Thursday afternoon near the Sanpya ward administration office in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State, with the regime subsequently arresting a local resident.

A junta-appointed ward administrator was stabbed to death near an office of the township war veterans’ association in the town of Ann, according to locals.

Flooding is frequent in wards such as Shwepyar, Mingan, Hsinkulan and Lanmatawtaung in the Arakan State capital Sittwe due to blocked drains and poor water flow, according to locals.

More than 2,100 people have been displaced by heavy artillery fire from the Myanmar military in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, over recent days, with scores of junta troops entering villages in the area, according to locals.
