More than 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State, are in urgent need of emergency assistance after being left without proper shelter.

The displaced people had been taking refuge at a Buddhist monastery in Yoetayoke Village. However, they are no longer permitted to remain on the premises, forcing them to seek alternative shelter.

The families are currently staying in makeshift huts in open paddy fields, where they face severe shortages of basic necessities, including adequate shelter, clean drinking water and food supplies.

As the group includes children and elderly people, concerns are mounting over their health and well-being amid rising summer temperatures.
