A bomb exploded near a construction site of the NLD’s new office located east of Pan Zin bridge in Buthidaung Township on Thursday morning, said U Ye Thein, chairperson of the NLD in Buthidaung Township.

Members of the NLD in the villages are concerned for their safety because of the explosion near the NLD office and they are worried about attending monthly meetings in the building, U Ye Thein said.

“We look on the incident as an attempt by a group that is not satisfied with the NLD, and their actions are a direct threat to our work,” he added.

The head of the Western Command Colonel Win Zaw Oo said that the Arakan Army set five bombs in the area but four of them remained unexploded.

“The AA detonated a bomb near Kala Pan Zin bridge. They set five explosive devices. Four of them fail to explode,” Colonel Win Zaw Oo said.

Spokesperson of the AA Khaing Thukha denied the accusation of the Tatmadaw and insisted that it was an attempt to misdirect the AA’s political ambitions.

“We are not concerned about this bomb blast. It’s obviously an attempt by the Burma Army to make the AA look bad in front of civilians so the government can blame us” Khaing Thukha said.
