One billion kyats donated to storm victims through AA
The United League of Arakan/ Arakan Army (ULA/AA) said it has received one billion kyats donated by the civilian National Unity Government (NUG) and fellow ethnic armed revolutionary organizations for storm victims.

The United League of Arakan/ Arakan Army (ULA/AA) said it has received one billion kyats donated by the civilian National Unity Government (NUG) and fellow ethnic armed revolutionary organizations for storm victims.
The NUG has donated 100 million kyats, the Kachin Independence Organization has donated 300 million kyats, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army has donated 100 million kyats, Ta’ang National Liberation Army has donated 50 million kyats, Shan State Progress Party has donated 200 million kyats, National Democratic Alliance Army has donated 200 million kyats and New Mon State Party has 50 million kyats.
The ULA/AA has been delivering food supplies including rice to people that were hit hardest by the storm including Rathedaung, according to Cyclone Mocha Emergency Rescue and Rehabilitation for Arakan (Cyclone Mocha ERRA), a committee formed by the ULA to help cyclone victims.
The AA provided rice, tarpaulin sheets and cooking oil to residents of 12 villages in Rathedaung, said U Than Shwe Maung of Nga-tauk-tuu-gyi village.
“It gave rice and tarpaulin sheets to residents of 12 villages. It also helps repair damaged houses in Rathedaung,” he said.
The AA is also repairing damaged roads, supplying drinking water and providing basic healthcare services for local people, said Cyclone Mocha ERRCA.
Ko Oo Tun Naing of Pyar Chaung Gyi village in Rathedaung Township said: “The AA has supplied local residents with donations. It has supplied rice, tarpaulin sheets and other foodstuffs.”
DMG was unable to reach AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha for a comment about details of its rehabilitation plan for storm victims.
Rathedaung was badly hit by Cyclone Mocha. More than 30 people, and over 2,000 cattle died in Rathedaung, according to a DMG tally.
More than one million people in Sittwe, Rathedaung, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Pauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya and Myebon townships were affected by the storm which also inflicted huge property damage.
Storm victims still need shelter, food, drinking water and medicine.
More than 1.1 people were affected by the cyclone and the financial loss totaled over 4.6 billion kyats, according to the Arakan State Administration Council.
