Myanmar’s military and local resistance forces are reportedly engaged in fierce fighting near Weapons Factory No. 24, officially known as Directorate of Defence Industries (DDI) Factory No. 24 (KaPaSa 24), in Pauk Township, Magway Region.

Magway-based resistance groups said a junta column from KaPaSa 24 clashed with anti-regime forces while advancing toward Zeepyarphyu Village, where militia members were reportedly stationed.

“There is a junta column that has moved north from KaPaSa 24 and is heading toward Zeepyarphyu Village. It has been more than 10 days since the troop left. About 10 villages in the area are currently fleeing due to the fighting. There are clashes between the junta column and local resistance forces,” said an official from the Red Dragon Warriors.

The junta column began its advance on December 9, and fighting has since intensified, forcing thousands of residents from nearby villages to flee, according to resistance sources.

Revolutionary forces said hundreds of junta troops are involved in the operation and have been arresting villagers.

They also claimed that many homes in Pauk Township were destroyed by arson and airstrikes carried out by the military regime in November.

Military tension and sporadic clashes between the regime and local People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) have been reported across Magway Region.

Ko Min Han Htet, a central committee member of the Student’s Armed Force (SAF), told DMG in an exclusive interview that cooperation among Spring Revolution forces is essential and that benefits must be shared.

“You can’t divide and conquer just because you belong to a certain group. Working together on the ground is the most fundamental thing. Each resistance group has its own strengths and weaknesses. One thing is certain: no single group is good at everything. Everyone needs to share,” he said.

Fighting is intensifying as the military regime recruits large numbers of conscripts and launches heavy attacks to expand control of the area in an effort to successfully hold an election.

Nineteen anti-regime groups have formed the Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA) to fight the military regime, and analysts predict rising military tensions in central Burma.
