A gold shop owner in Taungyat Ward, Mrauk-U, Arakan State, was arrested by Myanmar regime soldiers on December 18, according to local residents.

One civilian was killed and three others were injured in a junta air raid on Monday in Arakan State’s Ramree town. Many town residents and locals in the surrounding area have fled their homes.

Two women in Paletwa, Chin State, were reportedly injured in a junta artillery strike on Monday.

Sugarcane farmers in Arakan State are facing financial losses due to the junta’s road blockades following the latest hostilities between the Myanmar military and Arakan Army (AA).

At least 40 ferryboat helmsmen and residents detained by Myanmar’s military at BXT Port in the Arakan State capital Sittwe have reportedly been charged by the regime, family members said.

Individual Arakanese people will continue to lose access to rights and opportunities unless stability prevails in Arakan State, said junta boss Min Aung Hlaing in his message to mark the 49th anniversary of Arakan State Day on Friday.

About 1,200 basic education schools have been closed in Sittwe, Pauktaw, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Ponnagyun, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Maungdaw, Minbya, Myebon and Ann townships due to fighting.
