A teenage boy was killed and three people were injured in a junta air assault on Thit Ngot To Village, part of Arakan State's Thandwe Township, on Sunday.
Maung Khaing Zaw, a 16-year-old internally displaced person (IDP), was killed and Ma Khaing Zin Htwe, 18, U Thein Tin and U Tin Shwe, 77, were wounded after a junta jet fighter bombed Thit Ngot To Village at around 11:30 a.m. on November 24. Some homes were also destroyed in the regime airstrike.
"A junta jet fighter dropped a bomb on the village, killing an IDP child and wounding three others severely," said a source.
The Arakkha Army (AA) seized control of Thandwe on September 5, but civilian casualties continue to rise due to ongoing junta airstrikes and artillery attacks. Two local women were killed in a junta air assault on Thandwe on November 10.
"The regime is conducting airstrikes in Arakan State on a daily basis, and the locals are very concerned about the airstrikes. Targeting civilian areas is an inhumane act by the regime," said a resident of Arakan State.
It has been more than one year since the Arakkha Army (AA) clashed with the Myanmar military in Arakan State in November 2023, setting off the latest round of hostilities between the two sides, which are ongoing. Civilian casualties continue to rise due to junta airstrikes that have often targeted residential areas and other civilian infrastructure.
