Three COVID-19 patients in Maungdaw recover, discharged from hospital care

Three COVID-19 patients who were receiving medical treatment at Maungdaw District Hospital have recovered and were allowed to be discharged from the hospital, but they remain under quarantine, according to the Health Department in Arakan State.

Having tested negative twice, the trio will be kept under quarantine for a week, said Dr. Soe Win Paing, assistant director of the Public Health Department in Arakan State.

“They have to stay under quarantine for a week at home after they were under quarantine for a week in hospital,” he said.

Another two patients in Arakan State, one each at Thandwe District Hospital and Taungup Township Hospital, have also recovered and are quarantining at their homes, the Health Department said.

Five of 12 coronavirus-infected people in Arakan State are recovered, with seven patients still being provided medical treatment — four at Maungdaw District Hospital, two at Buthidaung Township Hospital and one in Sittwe Township Hospital.

The national tally stood at 304 coronavirus cases as of July 2, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports. A total of 223 cases are considered to be in recovery, six people have died of the disease and 6,037 people are under observation, the ministry said.
