The Arakkha Army (AA) has reportedly seized the junta’s No. 1 Border Guard Force (BGF) headquarters in Kyee Kan Pyin Village, part of Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township.

The AA took control of the BGF headquarters in Kyee Kan Pyin Village at about 4 a.m. on May 2, a reliable source told DMG.

“The military continues to carry out airstrikes near Kyee Kan Pyin Village. The AA seized dead bodies of members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) following the seizure of the Kyee Kan Pyin BGF headquarters. Some junta soldiers surrendered to the AA,” the source explained.

Approximately 50 junta soldiers surrendered to the AA while some managed to flee the Kyee Kan Pyin BGF headquarters.

The BGF headquarters in Kyee Kan Pyin Village is one of the largest military camps in Maungdaw Township. Prior to its seizure by the AA, it was fortified with hundreds of junta soldiers from other military camps and police outposts in the area, according to local people. One Maungdaw resident said the BGF headquarters at Kyee Kan Pyin was captured with the assistance of AA attack drones.

The AA is also attacking the Hla Poe Kaung base, as well as Pyinphyu military camp in Maungdaw Township.

There are multiple BGF units in Maungdaw Township and the AA is stepping up attacks on them in an effort to gain control over the entire Maungdaw region.

The AA is using artillery and drones to spearhead these assaults, and the regime is using artillery and warplanes to defend against the AA onslaught.

The regime and the AA have also been fighting fiercely in Buthidaung and Ann townships, and AA-military hostilities are reported in southern Arakan State’s Thandwe Township as well.
