First aid training coming to five Arakan State townships
First aid training is to be provided in Arakan State’s Kyauktaw, Rathedaung, Manaung, Kyaukphyu and Minbya townships, according to officials from the Sittwe branch of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, as conflict continues to wrack the region.

First aid training is to be provided in Arakan State’s Kyauktaw, Rathedaung, Manaung, Kyaukphyu and Minbya townships, according to officials from the Sittwe branch of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, as conflict continues to wrack the region.
The training will be provided after matriculation exams have concluded in Arakan State later this month, said Ko Kyaw Naing Oo, head of the Sittwe branch.
“Students and people from government can attend the training. We want all people to have proper knowledge of first aid,” he said.
A two-day training has already been provided in Sittwe, where 30 people including members of the Shwe Yaung Metta Foundation attended, he added.
Ko Ann Thar Gyi, who is providing aid for IDPs, said he hoped the training would help people to be able to provide first aid effectively in war-affected areas.
“We welcome the program of the Myanmar Red Cross Society to provide first aid training because there are some cases [of gunshot wounds] during clashes in Arakan State,” he said.
The Myanmar Red Cross Society has been providing aid to people trapped and injured as fighting between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army continues in Arakan State.
