Fighting has intensified in recent days as the regime launched a large-scale offensive toward Gote Gyi camp, located near the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base on the Arakan mountain range along the Ann-Padan Road section in Magway Region.
Currently, the regime is using significant airpower to conduct counter-offensives against Gote Gyi camp, which is held by the Arakan Army and allied forces.
"Airborne bombings have been very frequent lately. They used to bomb the area around Gote Gyi camp before, but it has worsened now that active battles are taking place," a military source said.
Gote Gyi camp, a crucial outpost for the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base, was first captured by the Arakan Army and revolutionary allied forces on September 28, 2025.
Following that, the regime exerted massive force to retake Gote Gyi camp and succeeded on December 20. However, the Arakan Army regained control of the camp the very next day, December 21, following a counter-offensive.
The regime is now using intensified airstrikes in an attempt to push through Gote Gyi camp to send reinforcements to the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base, where the standoff has lasted for years.
"As the regime continues to reinforce its strength, intermittent clashes occur frequently. Battles happen whenever there is movement from either side, and these days, the fighting is concentrated near Gote Gyi camp," another military source said.
Currently, junta battalions under Military Operations Command No. 14 and 17 are mobilizing reinforcements through the Padan-based Artillery Battalion No. 905 to prevent the loss of the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base.
The Arakan Army has been advancing its offensive toward Magway Region after capturing Ann in December 2025.
On another front, the regime is making preparations for offensives into Arakan State and Chin State by establishing a base in Kangyi Village, located on the road between Saw in Magway Region and Mindat in Chin State.
While the military government invited ethnic revolutionary armies and PDFs for peace talks on April 20, it continues to launch intensive offensives using heavy airpower.
