The Three Brotherhood Alliance issued a statement on December 27 to mark the two-month anniversary of “Operation 1027,” saying the increasing number of organisations fighting against Myanmar’s military regime is bringing the desire of the entire Myanmar people closer to fulfilment.
Following the launch of Operation 1027, the military activities of ethnic armed groups such as those representing the Kachin, Karen and Chin have increased, with resistance forces attacking the regime on several fronts and occupying military bases and towns.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance also urged fellow revolutionary groups to grasp the current opportunity and work harder in the coming new year to topple the regime.
During its two-month operation, the alliance has been able to attack designated operational targets and capture and control a number of junta bases and towns. The Three Brotherhood Alliance said that it is making every effort to ensure that the administrative systems of these towns can operate normally.
The alliance has seized 10 towns and four border crossings with China in northern Shan State since the launch of Operation 1027 on October 27. It has also seized more than 400 junta positions and hundreds of junta soldiers have surrendered during the fighting.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance has announced that it is trying to capture specific operational targets, and the regime is desperately protecting military bases using aerial support and human shields to prevent them from falling to resistance forces.
