Some 20 people were injured in a three-vehicle crash near Kin Taung and Pauk Pyin villages in Taungup Township, Arakan State, on June 18.
Rain was blamed for a Yadanar passenger bus skidding into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with a loaded 12-wheeler at about 2 p.m. on Friday. Another passenger bus then rear-ended the first bus.
Two emergency vehicles from the Shin Than Yay Voluntary Group arrived at the scene at about 3 p.m., and provided medicines and emergency treatment to the crash victims.
“When the Yadanar bus and 12-wheeled truck collided, the 12-wheeled truck driver was sitting on the left side,” said a member of the Shin Than Yay Voluntary Group in Taungup Township. “As the Yadanar bus is a right-hand drive vehicle, the assistant of the Yadanar bus got stuck between the two vehicles and got injuries to his lower body, but he is not in critical condition.”
Eleven people who were injured have been provided medical treatment at the 100-bed hospital in Taungup, and nine others who suffered less severe cuts and abrasions were given treatment by the Kin Taung health department.
