Eight junta soldiers were killed and some were wounded in a clash with the Arakan Army (AA) near Kainggyi Village in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, the Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a statement on Saturday.

The AA attacked the Border Guard Force (BGF) outpost at around 8:20 a.m. on November 25, and fierce clashes were reported thereafter as the military fired mortar shells.

Eight junta soldiers were killed and some were injured during the clash, the Three Brotherhood Alliance said. There were no reports of casualties on the AA side.

No fighting was reported near Kainggyi Village on the morning of November 26. More than 300 residents from Kainggyi Village fled to safer locations on November 23 before the AA launched an attack on the BGF outpost.

DMG phoned junta spokesman Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun regarding the Maungdaw fighting, but he could not be reached. The regime tends to undercount or cover up altogether incidents involving junta soldier casualties.

The AA attacked the Donenyo BGF outpost in Maungdaw Township at about 10 a.m. on November 16 and occupied the BGF outpost at around 1 p.m. on November 17, the ethnic armed group said in a statement.

The Arakan Army occupied four BGF outposts within the first 10 days of the latest hostilities in Arakan State. The AA occupied the Donepaik and Cheinkharlein BGF outposts in Rathedaung Township, the Donenyo BGF outpost in Maungdaw Township and the Hkahteehla BGF outpost in Buthidaung Township in those first 10 days.

The military and AA have been fighting in Arakan State since November 13, not long after the Three Brotherhood Alliance announced that its “Operation 1027” would be expanded nationwide.
