The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) commander-in-chief said that the evil roots of over 60 years of bullying and oppression in Myanmar have been uprooted, urging local people to live together in unity.

The TNLA leader, Maj-Gen Tar Hold Plang, made the remarks during a meeting with local people in Namsang Township, northern Shan State, on March 26.

The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA), Tar Aik Bong, General Secretary Maj-Gen Tar Bone Kyaw, and more than 300 local residents from 23 village-tracts in Namsang Township.

The PSLF/TNLA chairman also said that the TNLA and the people must jointly protect Namsang and the entire Ta’ang region.

Namsang town and the entire Ta’ang region, which the TNLA fought and captured, must be protected together by the TNLA and the people living in the region, said Tar Aik Bong.

The TNLA seized the towns of Namhkam, Namsang, Mantong, Namtu, Minengaw, Monglone and Kutkai in northern Shan State during ‘Operation 1027’, launched by the Northern Alliance in late October 2023.

A PSLF/TNLA administration is being built in the TNLA-controlled areas and reconstruction works are being carried out in areas such as health, education, regional development and transportation.

“The tea industry in Ta’ang region will be further upgraded and the education, health and administrative sectors will be managed properly,” said Maj-Gen Tar Bone Kyaw during the meeting.

Since the Three Brotherhood Alliance launched ‘Operation 1027’, up to 50 towns have come under the control of resistance forces across the country, with the Arakan Army (AA) seizing most of them, according to BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor records.
