Myanmar activists have criticised the new ASEAN chair for arranging a meeting with the Myanmar military council leader, saying it will be in vain for the international community.

A local man has been arrested because his brother unwittingly transported a defecting member of the Border Guard Police in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, said the detained man’s family.
