Third virus case reported among GAD staff in Maungdaw Twsp

The deputy commissioner of the Maungdaw District General Administration Department and one of his staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, and five staff members who came in contact with them were quarantined on June 23.

Paletwa dodges electricity cut with diesel resupply

The township electrical engineer’s office in Chin State’s Paletwa Township said it had initially announced that electricity, which is currently being distributed to households in downtown Paletwa from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, would be temporarily cut off due to a shortage of fuel. However, under changed circumstances there will be no power outage as diesel was expected to arrive on Monday, he added.  

Embassies, UNFPA condemn sexual violence in conflict

Four embassies in Yangon and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) used International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict on June 19 “to unequivocally condemn acts of sexual violence by all armed actors, and those associated with them, in Myanmar.”
