Two people, who were hit and injured by stray bullets from Yay Bote village in Rathedaung township, were sent to hospital on October 28 with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in cooperation with Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS), U Hla Kyaw, head of Township Red Cross Unit said.

“We released civilians who are not associated with the military. They are nine construction workers and three car drivers. We released them last night,” Khaing Thukha said.

The Defence Services Department stated on the evening of October 27 that the head pilot, who flew the helicopter to rescue the detained Tatmadaw soldiers, was shot by the Arakan Army (AA) and injured people [Tatmadaw is still investigating which type of bullet the AA used].

As many as 13 people from Yaybote village in Rathedaung Township, were arrested by the Tatmadaw on 27 October, according to locals.

The AA said that because some Tatmadaw soldiers were pretending to be civilians and travelling with other passengers on the Shwe Nadi express boat that runs from Sittwe to Buthidaung, they stopped the boat near Yay Myat village in Rathedaung Township and detained some Tatmadaw soldiers and other suspicious people.

Two policemen have been killed and five other police officers and two inmates were injured in a police convoy attack launched by the Arakan Army (AA) in Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, according to the State-run newspapers.

 A land survey staff member, who was detained and questioned at Buthidaung police station, is facing charges under the Counter-Terrorism Law’s article 50 (a) and 51 (c).

A convoy transporting detained people who have been facing trial at Maungdaw district court hit a landmine at about 4P.M. on 24 October, U Soe Aung, Administrator of Maungdaw District, confirmed the DMG.

Since Arakan State government did not arrange land for war refugees, officials from War Taung IDP camp in Kyauktaw Township have to rent land for IDPs, village administrator U Sein Shwe Bu told the DMG.

A land survey staff member was taken from his house by the police from Myoma police station of Buthidaung around 12 p.m. of October 22 for questioning, the family said.

“A landmine exploded today a furlong away from the east side of our village. Soon after that, they [the Tatmadaw] entered the village, firing guns into the air. We were told to gather in front of them. Then they asked us whether we know the Arakan Army (AA) or were we members of AA. They took our gold jewelry, money and mobile phones with them,” the villager said.
