Ann and Taungup designated as districts

Arakan State is gaining an additional two districts, according to a spokesman for the state’s military government, U Hla Thein, who told reporters on March 8 that Ann and Taungup would be elevated to district-level jurisdictions.

The junta-controlled Ministry of Electricity and Energy said on Sunday that a new gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW) in Arakan State’s Kyaukphyu Township is set to run at full capacity by June, supplying the national grid.

ULA still investigating string of unusual crimes late last year
