Residents of five townships in northern Arakan State are being prioritised in the latest regional Covid-19 inoculation campaign, with the Arakan Army (AA) administering vaccine doses allocated by Myanmar’s military regime, said AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha. 

Junta forces used an attack helicopter in clashes with a coalition of Karenni armed groups in Kayah State’s Demoso Township on Monday, forcing hundreds of locals to flee their homes.

Ethnic politicians are concerned that Myanmar’s post-coup peace process will not be successful if it continues in line with the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

Students at some schools in northern Arakan State townships such as Minbya, Mrauk-U, Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, and Buthidaung have reportedly been singing the Arakha national anthem since last year.
