Basic education schools in Paletwa Township, Chin State, reopened on June 23 after being temporarily closed due to local COVID-19 infection rates, according to the township education office. 

The deputy commissioner of the Maungdaw District General Administration Department and one of his staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, and five staff members who came in contact with them were quarantined on June 23.

Two of six prisoners who were being transferred from Taungup Township to Thandwe Prison in Arakan State have tested positive for COVID-19, Thandwe Hospital Superintendent Dr. Ye Win Tun told DMG.
