A junta air assault on Minbya town, which is held by the Arakkha Army (AA), killed a woman and destroyed a Buddhist monastery. The 43-year-old victim has been identified as Daw Yin Yin Aye.

The ethnic armed group is trying to supply paddy seeds, fuel, power tillers and other needed material assistance for farmers, AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha said.

“There is no escape route for local people and we are trapped by the fighting. We are worried about our safety because the military-AA clashes are getting closer to Thandwe,” said a local resident.

Villagers in Arakan State’s Kyaukphyu Township have expressed concern for their safety as the regime has planted landmines near their villages.

Thousands of residents from five villages in Sittwe Township, Arakan State, have reportedly been forced to relocate by Myanmar’s military regime.

“We have released many prisoners of war. We didn’t report every release for the sake of their safety. Particularly we released unwell prisoners of war as we can’t provide comprehensive healthcare services,” said U Khaing Thukha.

The AA has seized several junta bases, military camps and BGF outposts in Maungdaw. It has also stepped up attacks on Border Guard Police Battalion Nos. 2, 4, and 5.

A total of 203 Arakanese social and fraternal organisations abroad have issued a statement condemning the junta’s recent massacre of civilians in Sittwe Township’s Byaing Phyu Village.

Myanmar’s military regime has opened a case against a former youth leader of the Arakan National Party (ANP) under Section 50(j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.

Since the AA defeated junta deployments around Gaw Village, the regime has prepared a defence in Mazin Ward, the site of Thandwe Airport in Ngapali.

At least 64 civilians were killed by unprovoked junta attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday in Sin Kaung Village, part of Arakan State’s Thandwe Township, according to residents.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres said Thursday he was deeply concerned by escalating violence in Myanmar, including reports of the military killing scores of civilians in Arakan State late last month.

The two groups told the regime to immediately stop the violence it is meting out against civilians across the country.
