Students and teachers have lost their chance to receive an education because they have to flee to safety as the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) continue fighting near villages.

Local people from Kin Pin Lel Nar Village, Kyaukphyu Township in Arakan State said they suspect a fish cracker factory near the village is believed to run on coal and demanded local authorities to shut down the plant.

Daw Win Mra Phyu, mother of the detained teacher died at a public hospital in Sittwe this morning due to trauma a day after her son was arrested by the Tatmadaw.

One of two teachers from Buthidaung Township who have been accused under Anti-Terrorism Act has been released from custody due to insufficient evidence, lawyer Daw Oo Than Khin told DMG.

A Muslim man from Tha Yet Pyin village in Buthidaung township of Arakan State lost his left leg and got severe injuries in his right leg after stepping on a land mine while he was herding cattle near his village at about 11 a.m. on 2 December.

A robbery occurred in Pyarte village in Kyaukphyu Township on 26 November and three people were arrested, according to Kyuakphyu township police.

Three villagers received injuries due to fierce fighting between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) in Yan Chaung Phyar mountain range of Mrauk-U Township on the afternoon of 2 December.

An artillery shell hit Alaezay ward in Mrauk-U city, Arakan State on the evening of 2 December, killing three children and injuring four, according to Mrauk-U Blood Donners’ Association.

U Aung Lin Htet, U Chan Nyein, U Myat Khaing and U Win Thein were arrested on 10 September after authorities found them with a satellite phone, binoculars, a GPS device, gun powder and detonators at a house in Mandalay Region’s Chan Mya Tharzi Township.

The Tatmadaw used civilian’s vehicles in the fighting near Hinkhayaw village and killed 12 military personnel and seized some weapons, the AA announced.
