Internally displaced people (IDPs) are moving from one location to another without a stable place to take refuge due to daily airstrikes and artillery attacks by the Myanmar military in Maungdaw Township.
There are hundreds of thousands of IDPs in Maungdaw Township, and the regime is attacking the villages where these IDPs have sought to shelter.
"IDPs are taking shelter in some villages. As the regime is attacking the villages where the IDPs live, they have to move from village to village and are facing many difficulties," said one IDP.
A Myanmar regime air attack on Pharwatchaung Village, Maungdaw Township, killed five civilians and wounded at least 10 others at around 2 a.m. on October 21.
Due to the regime's attacks, IDPs are no longer staying in a fixed place and are moving from one place to another. IDPs said they want the regime to stop attacking the villages where residents and IDPs are sheltering.
"As IDPs are being attacked like this, they are moving and finding it difficult to resettle. The regime has been targeting civilian areas in addition to the conflict areas," said an IDP woman in Maungdaw.
Due to the large number of IDPs in Maungdaw Township, there are many needs such as food and basic security, and IDPs are asking that international organisations provide assistance to them.
IDPs are facing more difficulties due to heavy rains in Maungdaw Township on October 21.
Clashes between the military and Arakkha Army (AA) are reported on a daily basis as the ethnic armed group is attempting to capture the entirety of Maungdaw Township.
