Five civilians were killed and nine injured in junta air and artillery attacks on three villages in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State, on November 7, local residents said.
At 11 a.m., Light Infantry Battalion No. 344 fired 120mm artillery at Kuntaung Village, injuring a 55-year-old man. Thirty minutes later, a Kamikaze drone bombed Aungphyupyin Village, wounding a woman, while a jet fighter struck Yoetayoke Village, killing five and injuring seven.
A local resident said, "The military is attacking Arakan more while there's a ceasefire in northern Shan. Ponnagyun is close to Sittwe, and strikes can happen anytime. People should stay alert and avoid gatherings."
Those injured are receiving emergency medical treatment. The township has faced repeated attacks, including an October 31 strike on Pannilar Village that killed four, including a child, and wounded nine.
Clashes continue along the Sittwe-Ponnagyun border between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army, with frequent air, drone, and artillery strikes leaving residents in constant fear.
A 24-year-old woman said, "Junta jets fly over almost every day. I don't know where to hide. I don't even feel safe at home."
From April 2024 to November 7, 2025, DMG reports that 33 civilians have been killed and 64 injured in Ponnagyun Township by military air, drone, and artillery attacks. Civilian casualties are rising as the military intensifies its assaults.
