A junta jet fighter bombed and strafed targets surrounding its Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5 in Arakan State's Maungdaw Town on Saturday morning.
"A junta jet dropped three bombs and also strafed," said a source.
The regime also carried out air attacks around the Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5 on Friday, leaving residents in fear.
"We can't sleep well at night. We have to sleep in the mountains," said one Maungdaw resident.
The Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5 is the only junta battalion left standing in Maungdaw, where the Arakkha Army (AA) has seized all the other regime positions over recent months.
The junta has reportedly been airlifting food supplies to its troops in Maungdaw since the last week of October.
"Junta Y-12 aircraft come every night to drop supplies. The fighting has not been very intense lately. But as the regime is bolstering supplies, it is reasonable to assume that the fighting is likely to intensify in the next few days," said a source familiar with the situation on the ground.
With the military regime increasingly deploying air and artillery bombardments, residents report having to relocate frequently from one place to another for their own safety.
Junta air attacks resulted in 31 civilian casualties last month in Maungdaw Township alone, according to a DMG tally.
