Data For Myanmar has reported that more than 110,000 homes have been burned down during fighting and military conflict across the country in the nearly four years since Myanmar's coup.
A total of 116,897 homes were burned nationwide, of which 113,054 were torched by the military regime and its affiliates, according to the research group.
Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of arson cases, with 76,990 homes, accounting for 65 percent of the total.
An additional 37,934 homes were destroyed in Magway, Mandalay and Tanintharyi regions, and in Kachin, Arakan and Chin states.
Data For Myanmar said 3,671 civilian homes were burned in 85 villages across 12 regions and states between February and May 2025.
The report noted extensive damage between February and May this year in Salin, Yesagyo and Myaing townships of Magway Region; Sagaing, Wetlet, Shwebo, Chaung-U and Kanbalu townships of Sagaing Region; and Myingyan and Ngazun townships of Mandalay Region.
A woman from Madaya Township in Mandalay Region said: "The military raids the village and if there are people, they arrest and kill them. If the junta raids the village, they burn the houses and take belongings. They take everything from cows and pigs to refrigerators to resell."
The villages most affected were Myaytaw and Myayswantaw in Yesagyo Township, with 540 houses destroyed, and Gwaygone and Ngathankhaung in Salin Township, with 239 houses destroyed, the report said.
Data For Myanmar said 3,840 homes were destroyed in Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, in May 2024, though the perpetrators have not been conclusively identified.
Buthidaung residents told DMG that the Myanmar military and Muslim militants were responsible for burning their homes.
"The Rohingya Solidarity Organization and the Myanmar military are jointly responsible for the destruction. They took away the doors of houses, saying I was taking photos of them, and even threatened me with guns," said a Hindu woman from Ward No. 2 in Buthidaung.
The report said that during more than four years of military rule, conflict between the military and revolutionary forces has intensified, with junta troops and affiliated groups raiding villages, destroying homes, seizing valuables and establishing new settlements.
Data For Myanmar also reported that revolutionary forces have attacked and burned villages where junta-allied militias are strong.
