A female student of electrical engineering at Dawei Technological University in Tanintharyi Region was arrested by junta forces on December 10, according to the Dawei Technological University Students’ Union. 

AA warns of rising military tensions in Arakan State

The United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) is keeping a watchful eye on Myanmar military (Tatmadaw) affairs in the region amid growing concern that the situation on the ground could lead to a resumption of hostilities between the two sides, the AA said on December 10. 

Toll gates resume collection in Arakan State

Tolls on roads and bridges, which were abolished in 2016 under the National League for Democracy (NLD) government, have been resumed at some points along the country’s roadways since the military coup on February 1. That includes toll-taking on roads and bridges in some Arakan State townships, locals said.

In the aftermath of the February 1 coup, Myanmar’s political, economic and conflict dynamics have been deteriorating and could be headed for a “worst case scenario,” warned Yebaw Myo Win, vice chairman of the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) and a spokesperson for the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST).
