Two residents from No. 2 Ward in Buthidaung Town who went missing on Monday were found beheaded and buried in Gone Nar (Muslim) Village, according to the Arakkha Army (AA).

U San Shwe Maung, 67 and U Maung Mya Aung, 65, were reportedly abducted by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) near Gone Nar Village as the two went to cut bamboo in the Mayu mountains.

The beheaded bodies of the two men were found within the compound of a house in Gone Nar Village on Thursday, the AA said.

A member of the AA's Department of Law Enforcement and Public Security was killed and two others injured when they were ambushed by ARSA while searching for the two missing men on Tuesday.

The AA said it is searching for the ARSA troops responsible for killing the two civilians.

"Even if the regime is cleared out in Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships, there won't be complete security unless Muslim armed groups are rooted out," said a Buthidaung resident.

Nine civilians have been killed by ARSA in Buthidaung Township since the AA seized Buthidaung Town in May. ARSA has killed at least five civilians and wounded four others in neighbouring Maungdaw Township.

Four residents from Kaing Gyi Village in Maungdaw Township went missing on September 30. Their fate is still unknown.

"Muslim groups operating along the border in Buthidaung and Maungdaw do not represent the people, rather they are terrorist organisations creating various troubles for the people," said another Buthidaung resident. "They are working together with the regime to impede the revolution. The AA must eliminate such organisations for the safety of the people and regional stability."

ARSA, the Rohingya Solidarity Organization and the Arakan Rohingya Army have allied with the regime in fighting in Buthidaung and Maungdaw. In addition to targeting civilians, they have also carried out ambushes against AA troops in the townships.

The AA has said it will crush any terrorist organisations operating in Arakan State.
