Myanmar's military regime is reinforcing its troops in Gwa, the southernmost township in Arakan State, to defend against the Arakkha Army's (AA) ongoing offensive there, according to sources on the ground.
Since the first week of November, the regime has been using water routes to transport weapons including howitzers from Ayeyarwady Region to Gwa Township.
"The regime's reinforcement of military weapons is seen more at dusk. The howitzer cannons on the trucks were completely covered with tarpaulin sheets on the military trucks. There may be many other weapons and ammunition," said a local resident.
The AA's advance is verging on Satthwar Village, about 13 miles from Gwa Town. The regime has prepared a defence at Satthwar Village and sent reinforcements from Ayeyarwady Region to the area.
It is said that the weapons and ammunition brought by the regime are mainly being transported from Satthwar Village to the fortification camps along the entrance road to Gwa Town.
"The regime is preparing a defence outside Ann Town so that AA troops cannot easily enter the town," said a military source.
