The military regime has launched a counteroffensive against a radar station seized by the Arakkha Army (AA) in Ann Town, where the junta’s Western Command headquarters is based, sources told DMG.
The junta radar station fell in the last week of October. The AA has so far been able to repulse the junta’s counteroffensive, which has involved air raids, according to one source.
“The AA seized the radar station located on the compound of the military hospital. The regime launched a counteroffensive earlier this month. However, they were repulsed,” said the source.
The radar station is reportedly equipped with a complex air defence system capable of detecting drones and radio signals, and is thus crucial for the regime.
As of press time, DMG was unable to reach AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha for comment.
Fighting has been raging in Ann Town as the AA battles for control of the Western Command headquarters.
“There is heavy fighting everywhere,” said an Ann resident. “The regime has brought in large numbers of reinforcements.”
The AA has so far seized a battlefield engineering battalion, Light Infantry Battalion No. 372, a military security affairs battalion, a medical corps and an artillery battalion in Ann.
